Lana Kalfas

Lana Kalfas is the Program Coordinator at Reach Out & Read of Greater New York. She previously spearheaded multifaceted programming for girls at StrongHER TogetHER in Durham, North Carolina, including a citywide virtual book club. Lana graduated with a degree in Educational Studies from Barnard College where she assisted the Education Department with research on the schooling experiences of immigrant students. She also earned her Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs and served on an interdisciplinary education policy consulting team for Columbia’s Center for Public Research and Leadership. Most recently, Lana spent a year in Athens, Greece working as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant.

Her favorite children’s books are Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes and Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peña.
