Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn Feature Reach Out and Read in Their New Book and in the New York Times
New York, NY — September 17, 2014 — In their new book, A Path Appears: Transforming Lives, Creating Opportunity, Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn endorse the work of Reach Out and Read as an innovative program successfully increasing opportunity for at-risk children. The book will be released on September 23rd.
Reach Out and Read was also mentioned in the New York Times on Sunday, Sept. 14th. The column featured an excerpt from A Path Appears. At the end of the excerpt, Reach Out and Read is mentioned as an organization whose work has impressed the book’s authors.
Kristof and WuDunn write: “If there’s one overarching lesson from the past few decades of research about how to break the cycles of poverty in the United States, it’s the power of parenting – and of intervening early, ideally in the first year or two of life or even before a child is born.”
These sentiments express what is at the heart of the Reach Out and Read mission, and we’re deeply honored to be recognized by Kristof and WuDunn in their work.
