June 2016 QHC Training

On June 10th, Queens Hospital Center hosted a Refresher Training in the Reach Out and Read model for medical providers from three Queens Hospital Center satellites.

In total, 17 medical providers, from four different sites (Parsons Medical Center, South Queens Community Health Center, Springfield Gardens Medical Center, and the main hospital in Jamaica) came together to retrain in the Reach Out and Read model and receive new materials for their sites.

The providers were trained by seasoned trainer, Dr. Marcy Stein-Albert. This training was sponsored by The Pinkerton Foundation, as a part of the South Jamaica Reads Initiative, a partnership of literacy organizations working with families, schools, and the surrounding community to ensure that children start school ready to read and stay on track for academic success.
